A Quest For Resolution!

Dear correspondents,

Sub: Blessing you for all the honorable deeds, you did in the past few days.

Educators, trainers to be precise, all the results you have groomed to get is the outcome of how effective, you slaved the kids to psychological torture to get above a definite mark, only  to accredit your school proficiently, and it is for sure, neither the outcome of the effectiveness of the teachers nor the sincerity of the management . After all, you dint teach, you trained kids. Terminating a child’s education, imparting her with a full stop in learning, may seem easy to you, because all you ENFORCERS demand are marks, and you don’t even bother to bombard them with burdens and throw them out to ensure, you don’t backslide.  Why don’t you get the fact that every child cannot be the same?  Yes, you managed to put a barricade into an innocent heart, stopping her from writing her board, only to save your school from failures.  And now, where will she go? Will your management take such kids in the middle of schooling? And does, putting the accusation on her character, to escape from the rules of government seem manly to you? Even if you educate hundreds, the one student you petrify and throw out, makes education entombed and invaluable. Result seekers, don’t tag yourselves as teachers, and instead get a board on to your neck, saying that you are beggars for “marks” and not values. After all she was not the slow learner, you, still failing the ethos of education, is a leaner in disguise.

You don’t deserve to be thanked,

I don’t want this piece of work to take the configuration of an article, but a pure observation and self interaction of how mindless and self-centered, the current scenario of education focuses to be. This is one of the solitary reasons, I attached one of the mails that I wrote with so much of burns within my heart, yet trying to be polite and sarcastic at the same time. A hinge of self-centeredness, maybe the stimulation behind me writing about, after all it was my cousin sister, who fell a slaughter to the education system that has successfully accomplished to put a borderline to her career in studies and because she couldn’t follow the rigors of what it demanded, it defined her to be a “slow learner”, neglecting the word “retard” to be humane enough. Education should be given, not taken. Yes, it was seized from a child, who had the interest to learn, only to get caught among greedy teachers, who never had the interest to teach. This work of mine doesn’t target or point anyone and if someone assumes so, then for sure you have your thoughts perverted, high time you bring in a change within yourselves. I still met the best of my teachers in school, and they made me who I am. This work shouldn’t make a difference to them, because they taught me who I should be, and never trained me to be some one’s duplicate. Many teachers don’t understand the difference that the greatest students are taught, the remaining being trained. Everyone has a pain, and this is the shadow of mine.

Value education classes turn out to be science classes, physical education classes turn out to be mathematics classes, and library rarely inspected by the students, is a concern that we never bother to bring into existence.  Morals, get masked in the smoke of scientific laws, mathematics managing to subtract, all the courtesies from a student, A child is more of a statue at present, whose virtue and wisdom is hampered to a particular direction and  has drifting mindsets according to the wishes of the trainer, in today’s nation. A teacher should give the impulse to a child, moulding them to be courageous enough, to face the domain. Science and mathematics is not everything in life, and why does the majority of teachers don’t teach this to the kids. Treating students like warriors for life has made them very sensitive and unstable, and when they get to face situations, they stagger. Suicides, on the incremental rise do make sure that teachers failing to manifest ethics into a student are also somehow the reason behind it.

Now, the trend of awarding teachers with gold coins for the centum they produce is making them go insane and it has pushed them into a discriminating situation, where most of the teachers want to grab the maximum gold, a competition among them. Everyone wants to be gifted for the immense hard work they put, I don’t deny, but the satisfaction of the work accomplished is a factor that most of us never bother, at the end of the day. The education system of today is constraining the students, to become slaves to the rigorous demands it puts in front of them. And many teachers don’t understand the fact that, the duration each student takes to learn depends upon the intelligent quotient levels, and it’s not that the student is not worthy enough. No one has the right to thrust out a student, just because she is learning slowly. After all teachers make classical role model for each and every student, and when they dishearten and bully kids who learn slowly, they get the thought of being good-for-nothing, somewhere deep within and when all the anticipations pile up, depression is the outcome. Being a slow learner is not a crime, but being a bad teacher is.

Results don’t adjudge the future of any student, and it’s the manners that the students learn all through the years, that take them through the problems of the world. This era of education has made the students learn, not for the sake of understanding, but to stay out from being called as “Retards”. The act of chucking the blame on the student’s character, just to make sure that they are sheltered from the rules of the government, does warrant the fact that an open education system is needed  to minimize all the criminalities. If all the kids who learn moderately and seems like failing in a particular exam, are tossed out of school, the next generation will also have uneducated, ignorant men and women and we indirectly are paving a platform to it by surrendering our anger to the unhealthy rules of the school management. I don’t want to talk about statistics and everything. We all know the actuality of what is happening and we are not kids. We, the learners of today need to find measures to reconstruct the system. No school has the right to label a child incapable, and it’s the teachers, who are unhandy to educate the child. Teachers need to study who they are and what they are for? Still many teachers are purposeful to their profession, but the haphazard education system of today might bring a fluctuation in them too. Anyone can teach a good learner, but slow leaner needs a good teacher, and that is what this generation is passive of. Slow learners also have a future and we should strive to fight for an education system that is more of practicality and equality centralized. When my sister got to experience it, I knew how unjust it was. And I hope no student gets to combat the same, in the years to come. I hope the educated of today, would wait for no such speculations and join hands without hesitation to bring a resolution. Today’s resolution is tomorrow’s revolution. JAI HIND.

The Inner Voice!

Decades ago, when public never knew the intent of why media was supposed to prevail, it administered its dynamics, executed its endeavours and truth echoed strong amidst disputes.  Vulgarity, controversies and sexual emotions never overwhelmed the eyes of people through media, be it the radio or the newspaper. Specific theatres screened films rated as “A”, and only those films convinced the sensational, intimate and sexual extremities of people. When technology became a stronghold years back, Internet made things effortless and accessible. Now it is much more people friendly. All we need to do is to switch on to certain channels in television that offer pure entertainment, and that is how they phrase it. Entertainment has switched allusions, It’s all about vulgarity and controversies in the democracy that dreams to become enriched by 2020. If a game of cricket urges for cheerleaders in arousing outfits to hold the crowd entertained with sexy and spicy moves, we can conceptualize how far media has adulterated all the civilized and contemporary minds, influencing people, creating controversies, adding salt and spice to each and everything just to enhance the television rating points (TRP).  Just because we can’t question the authority and raise our voice against the hierarchy, we people bury our ethics to the intellectuality of media, and we cast ourselves as fools, only to outlast in this nation that will always dream, but will never push towards progress.

Going by a narrow line, let me cite about this specific show in Vijay TV that ventured as a dance show, created controversies and staggers to be one of the displays to have crossed seasons and still focuses to be the cynosure of all the eyes not for the twists and turns, but for all the inapt and abusive reasons. Unintentionally I happened to watch an episode of that program, so I am writing about it and   my conceptions and perceptions about other channels and programs are not a compilation of certainty and my insight about them is absolutely very low. Many Romantic films till date has the essence of decency and when they called it as “Romance round” all I thought was of some pacifying  and pleasant steps to some soothing melodies. Ironically sensation and sexuality was what the dances and dancers   exposed. And the absurd part was that the most romantic dance fetched the lowest score and the most seductive, sexual and sense arousing dance was acknowledged by the judges and made it to the top. We Indians are recognized for a culture that still inspires a lot of foreigners and they take pride in learning our way of living and programs like this, where wives encourage their husbands kissing, hugging and flirting with others, vulgar language used to make fun, all these humiliate the heritage we have persuaded to frame up all the years and the credit goes to media for demeaning westernization among Indians. And the only good thing at the end of the show was that it inspired me to write this article.

At present, a child learns media before mother tongue. When it shoulders such a mammoth responsibility, why does it deny the chance of making quality and enlightening stuff reach people? Catechizing to the social needs of today should be the mainstream of media. An advertising agency prefers sexuality to innovation; ads that are sexier and consist of minimal clothing get the most glimpses. We people always carve for what the media imposes on us, and we blindly accept the ways of it. Shouldn't we be ashamed to reside in a nation that refused to screen hockey, the national game in television? What’s the use of actors dancing and singing in TV shows? Is it going to improve our economy? Will it make our country politically stronger? Does it take our maturity to a higher level?  Proper encouragement is denied to people who deserve and media has made the actors and cricketers the idols of our nation. This is where other countries are a step ahead us. They respect real talents; their media caters to the needs of people; they don’t sell the country’s pride for money, unlike our nation, where rowdies become politicians, cricketers become models, actors become owners , whereas social activists and humanitarians are thrown out of the country.

The darkest hour of the day always comes before the dawn. Our nation is moving through a period of insensitivity, and if there could be something called dawn for our nation, it’s in the hands of young minds. If western culture, their attire, their customs, their social behavior are slowly influencing the people, why not media get influenced from them. The creative learners of today are future journalists, photographers, politicians, activists, news readers and editors. In every era, the culture has made innovations and this is the period that has undergone the maximum change, unfortunately the greater are on the contradictory   side. Media has become money centralized   and the reason, for which it was created, is being demolished. Like how films are being rated by the central board of film certification, every program in television should be rated and certified before it is delivered to the people.  Instead of making film stars the centre of attraction in newspapers and televisions, why not make something that kindles immediate social attention towards a problem centralized in picture. Everything can’t happen in a flicker of a second. If there are still social activists, humanitarians, and well wishers of the nation secluded, speechless and concealed in some part of the country, it’s time for us to counterbalance the situation and prove to the people that media is for educating rather than entertaining, and only if that happens our dream to walk towards development, would be possible by 2025. I did my part, do yours.
